With their fantastic designs and premium features, Charvel has been inspiring guitarists everywhere for over three decades. Consequently, when the company releases a new product range the whole industry sits up to take notice. And at this year’s NAMM convention, they’ve just released a new batch of exciting guitars. So, here we are, bolt upright, taking stock of a couple of their standout performers.
The Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 is a slick and eager performer. Born from a desire to offer a rapid playing experience, it features a rock-solid two-piece, speed profile maple neck that’s engineered for effortless playing. Plus, its 12-16” compound radius, maple fingerboard holds 22, easy to play jumbo frets, while the heel-mount truss rod lets you quickly tweak the neck in any situation.
Equally, the electronics aren’t half bad, either. Featuring a set of high-output Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 cranks out high octane rock ‘n’ roll sounds with loads of sweet overtones. And, the volume control harbours a push/pull coil split for an even wider variety of tonal options.
The Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 continues Charvel’s legacy of inventive excellence. Once again, it’s designed to entice breakneck performances from its owner. Featuring a maple neck and ebony fretboard with 22 jumbo frets, it provides the right platform to play quickly and accurately. They combine to deliver unhindered position shifts while providing the feel of a comfortable, well-used guitar.
And, with a set of direct mount Seymour Duncan pickups on an alder body, the San Dimas offers unparalleled performance and sound. Furthermore, it includes a Floyd Rose® 1000 Series double-locking tremolo bridge system. This means you can dive bomb to your heart’s desire without compromising your ability to stay in tune.
