Posted on 18th January 2019 by

Another new release from Blackstar, now. This time it comes in the form of an upgrade for the multi-award winning HT-1 and HT-5 valve amplifiers. Building on their incredible success, Blackstar has spent two years of solid research and design to deliver us this batch of MkIIs. Including several new features and a boutique-style face-lift, these babies give off enough heat to satisfy your bedroom, studio and live needs.

BLACKSTAR HT-1R AND HT-1RH MKII

BlackstarHT-1R MkII and HT-1RH MkII

This cheeky little one packs a single, 1-watt of power. Sure, it sounds weak, but as the story of David and Goliath goes, it’s not all about brutish size. It houses an ECC83 preamp valve and ECC82 power amp valve that combine for some truly impressive results.

Plus, the simple control layout gives you access to independent reverb, gain, EQ and volume knobs. So, you’ll have enough options that you can fine tune your tone to suit your style. And, it features switchable channel and voice buttons, as well as an MP3/Line connection that allows you to jam along with anything you desire.

Main Features

  • Footswitchable Voices for Clean and Overdrive
  • USB audio out
  • Newly voiced studio quality reverb
  • Boutique styling
  • 1 Watt
  • ECC83 preamp valve
  • ECC82 power amp valve
  • 2 channels
  • 1×8″ speaker (combo)

Taking things up a notch, the HT-5R MkII Combo and HT-5RH MkII head give you a solid 5-watts of valve tone. They still feature the ECC83 at the power stage, however, for these models, Blackstar includes the 12BH7 power amp valve.

Furthermore, its control panel is in receipt of an upgrade, too. As well as the controls available on the single watt model, the HT-5R AND HT-5RH MKII includes a separate clean channel, three-band EQ and ISF control for further tonal options.

  • Power reduction to 0.5 Watt
  • USB audio out

And finally, we come to the most powerful models – the HT-20R. Kicking out 20-watts of delicious power, these hugely versatile amps feature an EL84 preamp valve and a pair of 2x EL84 power amp valves.

Its control panel matches that of the HT-5R, but with the addition of a master volume, too. And, because the USB and direct XLR outputs available on the combo let you quickly hook up to your recording system, this HT-20R MKII is perfect for use in the studio. Plus, it has a power reduction switch that lets you keep the tone but lower the power.
