Legendary guitar manufacturer, Gretsch, has just released a new line of guitars. Announced at this year’s NAMM 2019 convention, the list, which is as long as your fretboard, includes updated versions of the Center Blocks, Hollowbodies and Players Edition. So, here’s our pick of the bunch.
First on the list is the delicious Gretsch G5655TG Electromatic Center Block Jr. Available in an Azure Metallic finish, it comes fitted with a Bigsby® B70 vibrato tailpiece and an anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge. Its smaller sized body with a chambered spruce center block delivers high gain power with lightweight comfort, while the dual Black Top Broad’Tron™ humbucking pickups offer a marvellous, articulate tone.
This guitar is big, bold and righteous. Featuring a set of Broad’Tron™ BT-2S pickups, it delivers an improved definition. As a result, you’ll find a tighter bass response for strong lows as well as clear highs and a biting middle. Plus, its enlarged F holes truly produce a particularly enlarged acoustic definition. Available in Candy Apple Red this G2420T is designed for the modern player who desires a commanding guitar.
Thirdly, is the Gretsch G2420 Streamliner Hollow Body. Available in Village Amber, it comes with a with Chromatic II tailpiece, synthetic bone nut and secured Adjusto-Matic bridge. The guitar is certainly designed to give you rock-solid tuning stability. So, if you’re a hard riffer you can rest easy, safe in the knowledge that your slick licks won’t wind up flat.
This Gunmetal coloured G2622T Streamliner™ Center-Block modernizes the best elements from the past and bursts into the present-day music era with powerful sound and style. Including a sleek double-cut body and feedback-resistant design, it’s built for the guitarist who craves more than the day-to-day humdrum of inferior guitars. With more performance, more style and more volume, consequently, the G2622T is everything you expect from a Gretsch, and more.
Featuring the classic eye-catching style we’ve all come to expect from Gretsch, this G2622 Streamliner gives you vintage-style black control knobs and enlarged F-holes for increased acoustic projection. Including elegant aged white binding with upgraded purfling and slick-looking nickel hardware, this guitar is nearly impossible to put down once you’ve picked it up. Overall, it’s a beautifully crafted piece of wood that delivers an exceptional sound.
And finally, we have the G2655T. Available in an Imperial Stain finish, this guitar is built to deliver a high-gain friendly performance and slick playability. Its BT-2S pickups give you the sound while the thin ‘U’ shaped nato neck and laurel fingerboard give you the speed. And, of course, the double cutaway body with a Bigsby® B50 tailpiece means it’s all wrapped up in spectacular style. Very nice indeed.
