DX1AE Macassar Burst

First of all we have tone and tradition in a tough, stylish package. Solid Sitka spruce top set off by a vintage sunburst finish, in the traditional dreadnought shape. This guitar’s classic looks are bold enough to match the timeless sound of its X-braced construction. Equipped with the versatile and responsive Fishman Sonitone electronics, ensuring you can shape your sound anywhere, anytime.

Designed for those who have fallen in love with the look of Martin’s 15 and 17 Series solid mahogany guitars. Whilst looking the part, rather than solid wood this guitars is made from new, stronger  materials. This is a full-sized Dreadnought version of Martin’s recent 0XMAE, and features mahogany high-pressure laminate (HPL) top, back and sides. HPL is a strong, sustainable construction material becoming more regularly used in guitar manufacture, and a host of other applications too. Other adornments include a herringbone applied rosette, high-performance neck and a Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified Richlite fingerboard and bridge. This warm projective X Series guitar is stage and studio ready with Fishman Sonitone electronics. The HPL body is built for strength, and consequently will endure endless miles on the road.

This brand new X Series version of Martin’s acclaimed DX-420 model from 2017 features a custom printed illustration by visual artist Robert Goetzl. Could they have chosen any other model number for such a design? A full-sized Dreadnought featuring an HPL top and mahogany printed high pressure laminate back and sides. This model also features a modified low oval neck with high performance taper, and an FSC certified Richlite fingerboard and bridge. With warm bass and crisp highs, this is a great sounding, unique looking art guitar.

This is the campaign from the Rainforest Alliance which engages companies and consumers in the mission of sustainability. An important consideration for generations to come, Martin have moved their production materials into those which are certified by the FSC and Rainforest Alliance. Therefore we are seeing new materials such as HPL and Richlite used in construction. As a result of collaborations like this, technology moves forward companies can minimise their impact on the environment, which can only be a good thing!
