Having crafted high quality guitars for heavy metal players since the boom of the 80s, Jackson are a fearsome name. With a fresh batch of awesome shred-worthy guitars ready to hit stores this year, we took a sneak preview of what’s available at NAMM 2018.
Jackson Signature guitars and basses bear the names and preferred features of a select group of metal’s finest and most acclaimed players. They’re designed in conjunction with Jackson’s master builders as the ultimate expression of the artist’s talent and style. Check out these offerings from Mick Thomson and Misha Mansoor.
Capable of handling his acclaimed aggressive technique and tone, the USA Signature Mick Thomson Soloist™ is a sinister axe. It is loaded with premium features including genuine mahogany body wings coupled with a graphite reinforced through-body three-piece maple neck. This is carved to a custom super-thin profile for maximum comfort and highspeed playability, and a 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard with 24 frets.
This signature Soloist is powered by a pair of Mick Thomson signature Seymour Duncan® Blackouts to complement the complex, crushing riffs Thomson plays in dropped tunings. Beastly sounding with classic style, the USA Signature Mick Thomson Soloist™ is available in either a Black finish with white binding or in Arctic White with black binding.
Misha Mansoor is acclaimed for his masterful guitar work in fashioning the progressive metal of Periphery. Jackson have collaborated closely with the esteemed Djent forefather and speed demon on the range of USA Signature Misha Mansoor Juggernaut models.
This unique instrument is sculpted with a distinctive Jackson body shape inspired by the Dinky,™ with sleekly scalloped horns and a comfortably contoured neck heel. Its caramelized mahogany body with flame maple top and masked-off natural binding is matched with a graphite-reinforced bolt-on caramelized quarter-sawn maple neck with a hand-rubbed urethane gel back finish.
The guitar’s tonally versatile sound comes from Mansoor’s dual Bare Knuckle Juggernaut humbucking pickups with brushed chrome covers, five-way switching, single volume control knob and a push-pull (on/off) tone knob. Other premium features include a matching Jackson 4×3 AT1 headstock with Hipshot® open-gear locking tuners and a fixed Hipshot hardtail bridge, Dunlop® dual-locking strap buttons and more.
Think classic Jackson designs, outstanding tone, ultra-fast playability and highly affordable value for 21st-century guitarists. Built with the very latest in Jackson expertise and innovation, X Series models feature hot humbucking pickups that deliver well-balanced tone with tight bass, glassy mids and crunchy highs. More than the sum of their parts, these mid-range level guitars are steeped with an “X” factor that makes them perfect modern shred machines for a whole new generation of no-holds barred guitarists. We’ve picked the Warrior as a stand out for this series.
Ingrained with purebred Jackson DNA, ultra-fast playability and unbelievable value. The WRX24 features a 25.5” scale length, resonant mahogany body wings, and three-piece through-body maple/mahogany/ maple neck. The graphite reinforcement is for solid stability, guarding against climate and humidity changes.
Dual Duncan Designed™ HB-103 humbucking pickups use ceramic magnets and powerful coil windings to deliver a well-balanced high-output tone with tight bass and plenty of crunch and harmonics. The WRX24 also has single volume and tone controls, a three-way toggle switch and a Floyd Rose® Special double-locking 2-point tremolo bridge system for superior string stability, sustain and dynamic tremolo action.
The Jackson Pro Series guitars are built to their exceptional quality standards. With striking aesthetics and a super-sleek feel these are classic designs with top features. You’re guaranteed to experience outstanding tone, lightning playability, excellent balance, and above all great value. Have a look at the new Soloist and the King V.
This model features a resonant mahogany body topped with a poplar burl top. Its lightning fast 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets is designed for highly technical lightspeed playing—more curved by the nut for comfortable chording, it flattens out as you move up the neck (with hand-rubbed oil back finish) for increasingly fast playing speed and wide bends without fretting out.
Chosen specifically for their incredible sound, a pair of modern Seymour Duncan® Distortion humbucking pickups drives this guitar’s voice, combining for highly balanced, flexible tone, with plenty of high output for pristine cleans and snarling distortion.
A guitar created for giant, crushing tone with head-banging, flamboyant style, the Pro Series King V KV offers premium features including a mahogany body with bevels and an ultra-fast one-piece maple neck with a scarf joint and pair of graphite rods for reinforcement against the assaults of temperature and humidity.
With a commanding sound powered by brawny Seymour Duncan® JB/’59 humbucking pickups, this brutally powerful instrument delivers powerful punch while retaining clarity with enhanced note definition, a critical component for modern metal. The recessed Floyd Rose® FRT-O2000 double-locking tremolo bridge system will soar and dive without sacrificing your tuning, while providing laser-accurate intonation along the length of the neck.
Plug in a Pro KV and stake your claim on the throne of state-of-the-art guitar playing.
The entry level series for Jackson, the JS series represents excellent value. This is the easiest way to get classic Jackson tone, epic good looks and playability all without breaking the bank. For NAMM 2018 Jackson have brought the Monarkh, a spiky single cutaway in 3 flashy finishes.
With a slightly shorter scale length than the rest of the Jackson shapes and a satin finish speed neck there’ll be nothing to slow your playing down. The neck features a 12” – 16” compound radius which is curved near the nut and flattens out higher up for ripping lead lines. Two high-output humbucking pickups produce a clear and powerful tone which is ideal for contemporary styles.
