Fender Telecaster: An Original Rock ‘n’ Roll Masterpiece

Posted on 29th November 2018 by

The Fender Telecaster is one of the most iconic guitars in history. Just one look at that beautiful single cutaway body opens the door to a million memories of decades gone by. And, with it, a thousand riffs, licks and solos from hundreds of legendary guitarists.

It all started back in the 1940s when Leo Fender and his crew of Californian luthiers designed early incarnations the world’s first commercial solid-body electric guitar. By the early 50s, they had created something that was well designed, easy to play, efficient and affordable. Moreover, it delivered a brilliantly crisp sound. So, as small bands with huge dynamics began to replace the big bands of the 30s and 40s, the Telecaster made its way into the hands of rock ‘n’ roll, R&B and country guitarists.

As a result, the Telecaster began turning up on the radio and in the charts. In Nashville, 1956, Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio recorded an exciting version of The Train Kept-A-Rollin, featuring the first instance of a contemporary fuzz sound. Then, in 1957, Dale Hawkins produced the Telecaster’s top 40 US hit with Suzie Q. Also, in 1958 Muddy Waters visited England to give the UK a free lesson, inspiring a new wave of Telecaster fans.

From there, UK bands such as the Beatles, Led Zepplin, Yardbirds, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd were all inspired by the twangy, crisp and powerful tone of the Fender Telecaster.

Today, nearly 70 years later, the Fender Telecaster can be regarded as one of the most iconic guitars ever built. So, if you could choose to be a part of that incredible history, would you do it? Of course, you would.
